Idlewild Stablization & Treatment Plan
Idlewild, an excellent example of Gothic-revival architecture, was devastated by fire in 2003. SWSG preformed a structural analysis of the ruin, prepared stabilization plans, and managed the stabilization construction. A treatment plan was developed to guide future restoration or adaptive re-use rehabilitation.
Mount Air Ruins
In an effort to stabilize the basement brick masonry, which includes an excellent example of a chimney relieving arch with cellar storage shelving, structural engineers devised a stabilization plan using timber cribbing. This ingenious stabilization method did not require intrusion into historic materials and is reversible.
