Repairs

Loudoun Historic Courthouse Stairs

Leesburg, VA

Architectural and structural construction documents were prepared to repair the old Loudoun County Courthouse stairs. The brick wing walls were buckling and had settled. SWSG hired Allan Cochran to remove the steps to determine the original construction techniques. A McDonalds Styrofoam container under the steps evidenced a previous repair. Repair plans were developed to construct a foundation beneath the wing walls and bottom step.

Luckett’s Schoolhouse

Luckett, VA

In order to correct damage caused by wood rot in beams and columns, SWSG performed a structural study of the old Luckett’s Schoolhouse, and prepared construction documents for the repair work. Developed in accordance with the Secretary of the Interiors Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, the plans detailed the structural repairs, and specified the repair for the three-coat plaster.
